What I Do

“The garden is the artwork.  The plants tell the story.  The story paints the picture.”

Trent is the traditional gardener.  With 25 years’ experience that transcended from the English countryside, he takes pride in designing and transforming gardens with a flow and character that cannot be artistically trained.

His Mission

His passion lies with the ability to think outside the hedge, to create authenticity in a garden’s natural beauty and habitat, by use of theme-based designs through harmonised planting, colour schemes and unique ideas.

“The hedge has become an easy design solution for most landscape designers. Square-based thinking with square solutions. I take great pride in thinking outside of this square, to create an interesting story with flow and diversity, while holding the garden together at the same time…”

A well-designed garden is like a good book. What is it that makes a book ‘good’?”

Orientation, complication and a complex resolution that is not predictable. A good book produces imagery and mesmerises you into wanting more out of it, much like a well-designed garden. Such a garden, like a good book, has its ‘characters’ and these characters have a purpose. Such a garden uses colour at different times and contrasts them effectively. It surprises you, enlightens you, keeps you guessing and entices you into a living picture, one which differs from the aspect you may have encountered only moments before.

“A well-designed garden is a real piece of living artwork and an interesting story at the same time. It changes with the season, it is art at its best. It is … thinking outside the hedge.”
